Enhancing connection and wellbeing through aesthetic and acoustic design
With a passion for innovation, we believe in bringing new materials and products to market that offer our customers design, life cycle, cost and quality advantages. Our acoustically efficient ceiling tiles and wall panels are fire-safe, durable, low in embodied energy, and can be renovated and recycled locally.
Between our innovative outlook and quality manufacturing, we’re setting new standards in the construction and design industry, making better spaces for people to live, work, and play.
“Asona has a proven track record in delivering practical acoustic solutions to a wide range of projects and welcomes the opportunity to work with clients, architects, acoustical engineers and project managers.”
Neil Ridgway, Managing Director, Asona Ltd
New Zealand acoustic panel manufacturer
Our Auckland-based factory manufactures our composite ‘soft’ fibre sound absorber panels, hard attenuator panels, vinyl laminated hygiene panels, and fabric wrapped panels.
To ensure accurate performance data, we’ve invested in extensive sound absorption and attenuation testing at the Auckland University test chambers - all reports are available on request.
By producing our own acoustic panels, we’re able to offer our customers shorter lead times and the flexibility to tailor products to meet their decorative, performance and budget objectives. It also reduces our carbon footprint as minimal material is imported.
We’re globally accredited
Asona Limited has been assessed and approved by QAS International to ISO 9001: 2015 standards. We’re also the only NZ acoustic ceiling & wall panel manufacturer to have their main product range awarded Global GreenTag Certified™ Level A, for our Triton Range of high-performance acoustic ceiling panels to control interior noise levels.
And of course, our team are some of the most knowledgeable in the industry, including Managing Director, Neil Ridgway who boasts more than 30 years of experience in the international acoustic ceilings industry.
Acoustic panel projects spanning every sector
Our diverse portfolio of case studies showcases our involvement across various sectors, including education, public, and corporate projects. From innovative acoustic solutions at Gulf Harbour Country Club to extensive acoustic ceiling tiles at the QEII Park & Recreation Centre, our ability to break the mould of traditional design sets us apart.
Prestigious projects such as City Rail Link, Britomart, and Air NZ Hangar 9 Exhibition Centre further demonstrate our capability to deliver custom acoustic solutions that meet each space's unique needs.
Shed Beginnings - Asona’s journey from backyard to business success
We might be a NZ success story now, but Asona started life in a garage in 2003.
After starting his career selling and creating ceiling materials, owner Neil Ridgway decided to escape the corporate world and start his own business. Playing around with materials in his garage and doing research at the acoustics lab led (eventually) to a glass matt composite that was unique in NZ.
Farm boy to CEO: The life & times of Neil Ridgway
Asona’s owner and founder, Neil Ridgway, didn’t set out to make ceilings and wall coverings. But, with an innate curiosity and a knack for innovation, he was destined to do something interesting.
Neil grew up on a farm and, despite spending his life in big cities all over the world, he says he still misses it sometimes. Being a farm boy made him independent, self-reliant, and interested in how things worked. This led to a love of science at school, followed by Waikato Tech to study microbiology.
He started his working life in a white coat, working as an industrial scale microbiologist for a pharmaceutical company. But he soon realised that he didn’t want to plug away in a lab working for someone else for the rest of his life.
As a family-owned business, we stand firmly behind our values.
We are experts in creating aesthetic and acoustic environments that enhance the interaction and wellbeing of people in spaces.
We take pride and accountability in our products and our relationships. We’re open and authentic in what we say and what we do.
Our culture is one of innovation and collaboration. We work within the industry to improve aesthetic and acoustic experiences in the rooms we live, learn and work.
Our passion and commitment to quality, performance and sustainability ensures we are designing and manufacturing products that deliver better outcomes for people and planet.
