A specialist New Zealand manufacturer, distributor and installer of acoustic decorative ceiling and wall finishes serving the commercial interior market.

Our story

In a world where custom has become the new standard and ceilings are being refashioned into islands, pods and fins, Asona set about creating a collection of acoustic decorative laminates for their locally manufactured range of ceiling panels.

The laminates will provide architects and interior designers with greater choice to use colour, print and perforated texture in creating more varied and personalised working environments.

The new collection leverages Asona's strengths and leadership in light weight composite acoustic material production which can be manufactured economically here in New Zealand and with our new production line, up to 7 layers of acoustic material can be brought together in a continuous process to form not only decorative laminates but completed acoustic panels in one pass.

"Acoustic laminates are the face of our business" says Neil Ridgway, MD of Asona. "Every ceiling panel has a decorative side and our new collection frees us from being just another white ceiling panel manufacturer, he says.

Architects and others have their say...
"Having a manufacturer that has control over it's manufacturing process strongly benefits designers and sets them apart from the rest of their competitors.”
Logan Hooi – ASC Architects

“It has been a great and positive experience working with Asona. Not only do they provide good technical support to architects, they are always able to come up with new and innovation ways to provide solutions that meet the design required.

The foremost benefit I found when using Asona's products is the flexibility of providing custom solutions that satisfy the performance and aesthetic criteria for a project.

Hence having a manufacturer that has the control over it's manufacturing process strongly benefits designers and sets them apart from the rest of their competitors.”

Asona have shown a consistent willingness to innovate in order to achieve a desired outcome.
Paul Van Lent – Wingate & Farquar

''Of all the design elements that go into a design of an internal environment, acoustics is a largely unseen but key component to the success of a project. Where this requirement has visible form, the designer needs a good range of options to work with.

Asona, being a specialist within their field of acoustic solutions, have been able to provide a varied range of solutions to cover the technical and aesthetic requirements for a diverse range of projects over the last 15 years.

Design flexibility is really important. Due to Asona’s control over their design and manufacturing processes for much of their product range, products can be custom fabricated to suit the requirements design, rather than the design being limited to a fixed range of options.

Where these limitations are pushed (and often are), Asona has shown a willingness to innovate in order to achieve a desired outcome.

Asona have a passion for their speciality, this translates well into the design process, as a valuable industry resource.''

They have worked alongside us as both supplier, design partner and collaborator
Michael Fisher – CPRW Fisher

“Acoustics of spaces, both large and small, have become a necessary part of the work architects must now embrace.

Neil Ridgeway and Asona, from manufacturing locally produced ceiling tiles in the early days, have continued to develop their range of products year on year, with the introduction of best
in class international acoustic solutions.

Asona have for us been more than just suppliers. They have worked alongside us as both supplier, design partner and collaborator, when it comes to finding unique and aesthetically pleasing solutions
to the acoustic treatment of our client’s spaces.

The local manufacturing presence of Asona means they are always able and prepared to go the extra mile to come up with innovative solutions that other suppliers see as too difficult.

For Asona no acoustic problem is insurmountable, it is an enjoyable challenge .”

Michael Fisher – Director, CPRW FISHER Architects

We were advised by the sound engineers to contact Asona and we are so pleased we did!
Cliff Heywood MBE – National Museum RNZN

The Navy Museum at Torpedo Bay had a serious reverberation problem in our entrance foyer and café.

We carried out noise level testing and were advised by the sound engineers to contact Asona and we are so pleased we did!

We met with the Asona team who spent a number of hours finding not just a solution that would work, but a solution that fitted into our unique structure which was over 100 years old.

The brief not only included removing the reverberation issue, but finding a solution that would not be in the eye of the visitors.

Asona understood our requirements perfectly, they went about identifying and manufacturing a unique solution to fit our needs. Since the install of their products we now have a happy front of house staff who work in a far more comfortable environment but more importantly our visitors appreciate being able to view the changing exhibitions in peaceful surroundings.

Thank you Asona for listening to us and getting it right first time!
