The recently refurbished Trust Waikato building designed by architects Chow Hill required an acoustic solution to reduce the reverberation and noise levels in the entrance foyer. The technical aspects on this project were very interesting to Asona as the architects selected Asona’s white 50 x 200 mm deep Triton Baffle Beam. These acoustic beams needed to bisect the white metal beams containing the light strips seamlessly giving the appearance that the beams and baffles are all one piece. Careful alignment and exact cutting was required to match beam to baffle and baffle to baffle as the design required to give the impression of beams that flowed across the ceiling and down the walls. The end result is an exciting mix of skilful production and creative design to produce a deceptively simple, yet visually dynamic reception space. Asona manufactures its acoustic Triton Baffles Beams in New Zealand from high density non-combustible glass wool core wrapped in Sonatex™ a 2 ply glass mat composite facing that is cut and folded to give a clean frameless look. The beams are supplied in standard white, black, grey and wood-grain. Other options include fabric wrapped and PU wood-print veneers. Triton Baffle Beams are available in a wide range of standard and custom sizes to suit. The reception area also featured Asona's Knauf-Danoline™ Stratopanel G8/15/20R perforated gypsum sheet lining. Stratopanel™ is a continuous edge to edge perforated plasterboard acoustic sheet lining with random perforated patterns for a seamless monolithic finish. Knauf-Danoline™ Ceiling Linings have built-in air purification feature, Cleaneo Technology and meet the high level of acoustic performance required for commercial public areas such as offices, retail centres, schools, universities, hospitals, conference halls and hospitality spaces.
